The quintessential NYHC LP by a quintessential NYHC band that inspired thousands of other bands. Subsequent albums turned to crossover, then to street punk and Roger Miret’s vocals just got more and more annoying - but this one is early hardcore at its best, misplayed notes and bad production and all. Victim in Pain is over in a blink of the eye, the longest song on this record is 2:16.
The obvious worst thing about this record is the album art. I have no idea what they were thinking with this, other than pure shock value. A band would get burned to the ground if they did this today. My copy is a first pressing but the gatefold sleeve is in really rough shape!
Favorite Track: hard to pick since they’re all classics, but Power is a great closer to Side A.
