The Big Boys are fun fun fun because they’re so diverse and so good at whatever they want to be on any track. Manipulation sounds like The Wipers, Rules sounds like a lost track from side B of My War, Funk Off sounds like… well, funk, songs like Influence and Distance sounds like early emo / post punk, and on and on.
My main complaint about this compilation is - and basically all of them I’ve reviewed so far, this is a theme - is the layout. hardly can read the damn gatefold and finding out the origin of a track is a scavenger hunt. And again, it’s sort of a “best of” random hodge-podge of songs from different demo, studio and live recordings. The second album is bonus material.
My copy is a reissue on Gern Blandsten, where Record A is red, and Record B is blue. A fun collection from a fun band.
