Broken BonesDem Bones

Holy crap, what a record this is. No questioning why Discharge went down the tubes when the Roberts brothers left to form Broken Bones. Perhaps this is what could have been, but either way, Broken Bones stands alone.

Crunchy, fast, thrashing hardcore punk here, complete with palm mutes, fast leads and double bass: crossover before crossover was a thing. The tone on this record is awesome, the bass really shines through and the drums have a nice little reverb to them. One of my all time favorites.

I'm pretty sure Kawakami replicated the "hanging punk" photo from the insert for one of Disclose's "Disbones" releases - but I could be misremembering. I'm kind of flummoxed as to how they pulled that off.
