After almost 30 years, Burn finally releases an LP - unfortunately, this didn’t really live up to anticipation for me. I did give it a fair shake when it came out. The first song is just so weird and bad - it’s like a flashback to 90s groovy metal core - I guess that makes sense since it’s Burn, but it just doesn’t work. Things get a bit better with Ill Together, which brings in some of Burn’s classic melodic interludes. Other songs are hit and miss and Side B sees re-recordings of Last Great Sea and New Morality.
I do hand it to Burn for keeping it weird, but it just didn’t hit for me overall. I’ll keep this record and listen to it occasionally, then put on Shall Be Judged. That said, me and like 4 other old guys had a lot of fun seeing them play in Portland when they stopped by on the tour for this record, while all the kids left after Jesus Piece.
The package for this record includes a huge poster, a lyric booklet, printed inner sleeve. No wonder its was so expensive.
