This is a bootleg; I don’t think split was officially pressed on vinyl until recently. If the fact that there’s no insert and the poorly reproduced cover art wasn’t enough, the blank center label with pasted on band names is a dead giveaway. The back cover is just a piss poor design effort using what looks like the default MS Word font. For a bootleg though, it actually sounds pretty good!
Death Side - the legendary Tokyo band that started the whole Burning Spirits hardcore thing. They bring 9 tracks on the first side, featuring Chelsea’s impressive guitar licks and riffs. While the songs are a slight notch below those on their untouchable LP Bet On The Possibility, they still bring all the power and energy - if this was your first exposure to the band, you might be intrigued enough to learn more. There are some standout tracks here - Cry For The Trust, First And Last, Try and 気 迫 (“Spirit”) are bangers.
Chaos UK plays pretty thrashin’ but expected UK82 style punk rock, but I never dove into them the way I did Broken Bones, Varukers, GBH or Discharge. And let’s face it, It’s kind of a hard act to follow Death Side.
