Album of the year contender for me. Languid brings the heat with this pummeling Meanwhile / Dischange worship on their 3rd album. The monotonous beat behind overcharged guitars and a voice that sounds like it's been smoking pall malls for a long time really do it for me. The entire record manages to stay in that mid-paced pocket, with the snare just a half a beat behind - pulling rather than pushing, and it really works. There's a "Price of Silence" vibe on to Corpses Pile, but most of this is heavily Kängpunk coded.
Lyrically, we have a lot of great nuggets that describe the bleak state of the world in 2025. Essence of Life: "What have they ever done for you? They don't give a fuck about you!" From the title track: "Reject the shit - no ruling class: Shove their system up their ass!" and perhaps my favorite sonnet from Condemed: "I'm society's piece of shit and I don't give a fuck!"
Gotta love the artwork too - very edgy 1980s metal punk.
