Rat Cage from England is back with a banger in the mouth (here we just call it a sausage in the mouth). They were not on my radar even though they've got 3 albums out now, but now they're definitely on my radar. Rat Cage is B. Suddaby doing all the instrumentation and vocals, and it's ripping fast hardcore - makes you wonder if the band's title is a reference to Rat Cage Records?
It's mostly blistering fast early USHC fast, but not a total blur - there are a few slower, and even lightly melodic parts. Fun record, bleak subject matter - as the title suggests, lyrical content is fitting for a world seemingly getting harder and harder for everyday folks, while the rich get richer, corruption abounds, and wars are started for no reason other than distraction and ego. Asking for a peaceful life, safety for family, loved ones, neighbors, and food and shelter really isn't asking for much.
My copy is on pink. comes with a newsprint poster.
