This record hits you like a bag of bricks: uncompromising, pedal-down oi-influenced street punk, with the majority of songs about inflicting violence: everyone from childhood rivals, elitists, politicians, cops and basement-dwelling xenophobes is in the crosshairs of the Chisel, who also aim to uplift and protect the working class, underpaid and marginalized through their breakneck, pint-spilling and foot stomping tunes. Love a punk rock band that does not pull punches and the message is quite clear: “fuck them all, I mean it all, this shit isn’t working at all.” On Side B, things get a bit nostalgic and slower with the last two tunes, “What Was Mine“ and “Will I Ever See You Again?” A bit of a left turn but it works for me. It’s also very British, this record probably says the word “cunt” more than any other record I own.
