Brain Tourniquet “Sinking Deeper Into Madness”

This record's title is extremely apt. Somehow this album manages make me feel ways that I haven't felt since listening to Weekend Nachos - must be a PV thing.

That said, this isn't all blast beats (but they are definitely there), like all good powerviolence bands it goes from blur to a trudging halt in an instant. This one goes beyond the genre in ways I fully appreciate. Its weird, and makes you feel weird: the best way of describing this album is "disconcerting." I hear Black Sabbath and My War in here - and yes, there's even a fucking Beatles cover. Instead of making you feel enveloped in peace and love, though, this record invokes the feeling of being trapped in your own mind, perhaps in a drug-induced coma, where you are conscious but cannot escape. There's noise. There's weird 1950s style voiceovers that sound they were taken from some ill-intended mind control experiment administrated by the CIA. It's horrifying and amazing.
