I feel like Coliseum was always good at distilling different subgenres into their own unique sound; though their earlier stuff was certainly more hardcore punk than the later stuff. But Goddamage still manages to squeeze in a little bit of this and that: I hear some Motörhead, some Quicksand, some Black Flag, some of the era’s popular more melodic crust punk influences - but that said, the entire album keeps the gas down to the floor: fast, loud and frantic and short.
I have two versions of this EP, the first pressing 12” on Manic Ride records, and a 2x7” on the singer’s own Auxiliary label. The 7” sounds a bit better, but it’s a 2x7” so it’s definitely more annoying to listen to. The artwork is great on this record, cool collage work with a shoutout to Louisville’s finest (and Black Flag) on the back.
