Cold Cave pumps out throbbing synth-driven new-wave on Cherish The Light Years, and the opening track has a fairly ambitious and epic sound. It’s accessible and poppy, like a lot of songs on this record - Underworld USA and Villians of the Moon are my jam. Wes cleans up nicely on the cover art. The insert photo reminds me of Danzig’s Lucifuge.
Once I saw them play in SF and one of their keyboard dudes on tour with them - Boyd Rice - was doing coke on stage and wearing what looked like a SS officer’s hat. What a douche bag.
It’s an ok album that never will get a heavy rotation from me but it’s not exactly my bread and butter anyway.
