A Will To Change

Back at it after a few weeks off - today it’s too hot to do much other than sit in the basement and listen to records. Cutting Through (hi Driggs!) are a bit of an anomaly in this era and in this city; PDX hardcore is usually crust-influenced, or generally self-destructive and nihilistic affairs but this hardcore is unapologetically straightedge hardcore that sounds like it could’ve been from the youth-crew revival of the late 90’s / early 00s but I also hear some of the 90s krishna-core influence particularly on the title track, which is a bit slower but quite good - I think I might like a whole record more like this song by these guys. Overall a nice nostalgic sound for those of us who listened lots of In My Eyes, Fastbreak, Battery, or in turn were influenced by stalwarts like YOT, Wide Awake, Side by Side, etc. in formative musical years.

This one is on clear with a “vintage throwback” New Age label, out of 77. Looks cool but it’s the same label on both sides, so you don’t know what you’re getting unless you look at the matrix etching.
