Longtime PDX punkers first LP. This is a mix of old and contemporary songs, which may speak to its variety a bit. On the whole, though, the vibe for this album is a mix of anarcho punk / gothic rock that is an evolution and departure from their earlier pure Discharge worship….inspired maybe equally by Killing Joke and Amebix. It’s generally dark, moody, atmospheric ... this record is spooky and great for the coming rainy weather. It doesn’t lose its punk edge though, as there are also some straight up rippers on here, but Deathcharge is definitely no longer simply a d-clone at this point.
I’ve seen this band a handful of times and they’re great live, but man, they definitely take themselves and looking miserable seriously. Unfortunately there’s no track listing, so … you just gotta listen to the whole moody thing. Weird vulture artwork by singer of Lebenden Toten.
