Deathreat’s one and only LP is a frantic, pedal-to-the-floor hardcore punk thrasher - who aren’t afraid to throw in some catchy hooks and remain tight as hell despite the blistering speed. Less heavy and crusty than some of the members other bands, these songs clock in and clock out in dozens of seconds, drawing off early 80s US hardcore. Circle pit yourself to death, this one’s untouchable. Released in 1999 before the band relocated from Memphis to Portland along with the rest of ex-HHIG / Tragedy and From Ashes Rise. Not to be confused with CT’s Death Threat, or apparently, a Polish band also named Deathreat who has a song called “PC Punx Fuck Off,” who’s band camp profile claims to be highly influenced by Tragedy and Disfear…yikes.
