The early 90s was a transitional for lots of music; the first and second waves of punk / hardcore were dead and gone, Ray & Porcell came out on Rev Records; thrash had died and been replaced by Nirvana and Pearl Jam while Metallica went totally commercial, Freddy Mercury passed away. While HC punks worldwide were probably still bitter about Grave New World, Disaster channelled early Discharge with War Cry, probably one of the purest homages to Discharge’s peak (Why to Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing era). If imitation is the highest form of flattery, Disaster’s flattery reaches beyond worship level. Their sole mission was to sound like Discharge - not like a Scandinavian or Japanese flavor of it, or “influenced by” - to literally sound like them. They accomplished that, including the spliced in soundclips describing the outcomes of nuclear attack, barked vocals that are somewhat monotone and of course the harsh guitar and relentless d-beat.

This is a reissue on red vinyl from La Vida Es Un Mus and includes a booklet with a few interviews and old flyers.
