Disfear’s first LP Soul Scars picks up where A Brutal Sight Of War left off - but the pace has increased by just a few BPMs. The guitars are less buzz-sawy / influenced by Swedish death metal to me, but that rumbling low end is still ever-present. Just like Discharge only had one guitar solo, Disfear kinda only has one too, and its always in a predictable spot: the mid-point of any given song could be at the mid point of any other song on the record. While this formula works on a 4 song EP, it could wear on you after 14 tracks. The best songs are the ones that stand out a bit more for one reason or another but even finding those standouts are hard. I do like this record, but if variety is your thing, keep looking.
