After a long hiatus, rounding out the Disfear posts with a departure, deep in the stadium crust era of hardcore. This represents a large shift in the sound, first represented in the previous LP “Misathropic Generation” which welcomed Thomas Lindberg aka “Tompa” from Skitsystem / At The Gates as the front man. The sound is a bit more accessible / polished - it’s still hardcore punk, but nowhere as near as droning / breakneck / end-to-end d-beat centric as the previous records. It’s more mixed up, with some slower parts, more ripping and varied guitar solos - to that end, I think one of the dudes from Entombed is also in the band at this stage - gang background vocals, etc - sounds more like a hardcore album that happens to have d-beat on it. It’s not bad - but not my favorite Disfear era.
I saw them at The Double Door in Chicago. Sweet Cobra opened. It was a good time!
