Acrostix(A Chain Of) Hatred

The aforementioned Acrostix are one of those bands who take an sounds and aesthetic established years before and fully embody it, down to the logo and the name. This doesn’t only happen in Japan, of course, but Japan seems to do it better than others. So, if you guessed that this is Amebix-inspired crust-core band, you guessed correctly, but it seems like the band shifts styles from track to track. The first track is a ripper, with an inspiring gang shouted chorus, leading into another, SMOG, which leads to the last song on Side A - The Day Comes, directly inspired by Chain Reaction from Ameba’s Monolith. Side B starts with Hazy World sounding a bit more Axegrider-inspired to me, then Last Hope which is catchy and deviates a bit from the formula a bit, and sounds like a lost Liberate track. The record finishes up with the title track, cut from the same cloth as Last Hope, more of of a burning spirits feel than a dark and morbid Amebic feel.
