I like Dinosaur Jr’s early stuff a lot, so it’s kinda funny that this is the only full-length I own by them on wax. 2LP of relatively-expected Dinosaur Jr. songs with the classic line-up (2nd after re-regrouping in 2007). There’s really nothing too out there (pun intended) on this record - it’s good, but kinda know what you’re getting with a Dinosaur Jr. record: somewhat whiney vocals with pouty lyrics, self-indulgent guitar solos, catchy riffs, some slow quiet parts, and generally feeling perpetually stuck in 1992. Don’t forget the weird cover art, this one looking like a stoner rock album. J Mascis was generous enough to give space for 2 Lou Barlow tracks on this album. Not quite a classic but not bad by any stretch, although it’s a long fucking record and I’m not sure I have a ton of patience for 2 disks of Farm when i could just listen to You’re Living All Over Me.
