Disclose’s first LP features a guitar tone so buzzy and fuzzy that you can almost feel it on the roof of your mouth. The mix, however, overshadows most of the other instruments: the drums sound distant, and the vocals are buried. A recent reissue from LVEUM restores the original mix, which will hopefully improve on this one. This is a first pressing but does not include the patch—hopefully, that’s holding together some crusty’s pants right now.

The artwork is clearly inspired by Discharge’s EP “WHY,” but it amplifies it by using even more horrific war photography. It’s so gruesome that I felt compelled to cover an image on the back cover with the insert (visible in the second photo in the gallery; the uncovered photo is shown last). This nightmare collage is intentional: massacre and warfare in faraway lands are still horrific, especially when the victims are children. It may be painful to look at, but it’s crucial not to look away. Paraphrasing the cover, war imposes indiscriminate cruelty to common people.
