Undeniably the first thing that stands out about The Crow is the shift to Grave New World-esque falsetto style vocals on the first track. As mentioned in the previous post about Apocalypse, this record was last release of the Osaka-era Crow, as the members wished to go different directions musically - which subsequently morphed into that Apocalypse album, Grave New World and Death Comes Along. This record symbolizes the glue and evolution of the Crow into those other projects, and it’s a bit fascinating how you can follow the through lines and find the common thread from this record into those projects.

Overall, there’s fuzziness, speed, feedback and urgency to the tunes here, along with the noisiness and weirdness. It’s anything but another d-clone release. And if you can get over the vocals on the first track, it’s quite good and over before you know it.
